Best Ayurvedic Doctor in Dubai - Meet Our DHA-Licensed Physicians

Home / Doctors

Niramaya’s Ayurvedic doctors in Dubai are fully licensed physicians, not therapists or wellness consultants. Both hold a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) – a five-and-a-half-year medical degree including a hospital internship – from Government Ayurveda Colleges in Kerala, India, and both are licensed to practise by the Dubai Health Authority. Dr. Ashna Noushad additionally holds an MD in Ayurveda and MOH licensure.

Under DHA regulation, only a licensed Ayurvedic physician may diagnose a condition, prescribe herbal medicine or determine a therapy protocol. An Ayurvedic therapist performs treatments but cannot diagnose or prescribe. Between them our doctors have over 15 years of combined clinical experience across musculoskeletal pain, digestive and metabolic disorders, women’s health, dermatology, migraine, hair fall and stress-related illness.

Consultations are available seven days a week, 9am to 9pm, at our Al Karama clinic. Call 04 529 4777.

Choosing an Ayurvedic Doctor in Dubai — FAQs

There is no official ranking, so judge by four verifiable criteria: a BAMS or MD (Ayurveda) degree from a recognised college, a current DHA practitioner licence, years of clinical experience, and specialisation in your specific condition. At Niramaya in Al Karama, Dr. Meera Bhanu (BAMS, 10+ years, DHA-licensed) and Dr. Ashna Noushad (BAMS, MD in Dravyaguna, DHA and MOH licensed, 3rd rank KUHS) meet all four.

An Ayurvedic doctor practising in Dubai must hold a BAMS degree — a five-and-a-half-year medical degree including a hospital internship — or a higher Ayurvedic qualification, and must pass Dubai Health Authority assessment to obtain an individual DHA practitioner licence. The clinic must separately hold a DHA facility licence. You can verify any practitioner's licence on the DHA Sheryan portal.

An Ayurvedic doctor holds a BAMS medical degree and a DHA licence to diagnose conditions and prescribe herbal medicine. An Ayurvedic therapist is trained to perform treatments but cannot diagnose or prescribe. At a properly run clinic the doctor consults and prescribes, and the therapist delivers the treatment under that prescription.

A consultation with an Ayurvedic doctor at Niramaya costs AED 100 and takes about 45 minutes. It covers your health history, current medication, pulse and constitution assessment, and ends with a written treatment plan stating the therapies, herbal medicines, session count and total cost.

Yes. Both Ayurvedic physicians at Niramaya in Al Karama — Dr. Meera Bhanu and Dr. Ashna Noushad — are women. Female therapists are available for all women's treatments, and Dr. Meera holds additional certification in Ayurvedic gynaecology.

Patients most often consult our doctors for musculoskeletal pain including back pain, sciatica and arthritis; digestive and metabolic disorders; women's health concerns including PCOS and menstrual disorders; skin conditions; migraine; hair fall; and stress, anxiety and insomnia. Ayurvedic treatment is used both on its own and alongside conventional care.

No referral is needed — you can book an Ayurvedic consultation directly on 04 529 4777. If you intend to claim on insurance, check whether your policy includes alternative medicine cover, since Niramaya works on a reimbursement basis.

Yes, and you should tell both. Bring your current prescriptions and any recent lab reports to your consultation. Dr. Ashna's MD specialisation is in Dravyaguna — Ayurvedic pharmacology — so herbal prescriptions are planned with conventional drug interactions in mind.
